A fire was reported at a rural Washington house Sunday and a juvenile was found to have started the fire.

According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 7:44 p.m. a fire was called into dispatch on 285th Street, southeast of Washington. The caller told dispatch they were able to extinguish the fire. Washington County Sheriff’s deputies and Washington Fire Department responded to the scene. A juvenile daughter started the fire in the basement and will be charged with arson in the first degree. She was taken into custody by a juvenile probation officer.
