The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team was knocked out of the regional tournament Saturday 57-55 by the Tipton Tigers in Wellman.
In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, things were tight through the first quarter with Tipton holding an 8-7 lead. The offenses got on track in the second quarter but it was still the Tigers on top at 27-23 at the half. Mid-Prairie made their move in the third, taking a brief lead and leaving the game tied at 38 going to the fourth. In the final quarter, the Tigers made enough plays down the stretch, including a defensive stop in the games final five seconds to seal the win.
Addie Rath finished her Mid-Prairie career with a double double 15 points and 11 rebounds. Shae Becker also had 15 for the Golden Hawks. Amanda Smith led Tipton with 27 points and 17 rebounds. With the loss Mid-Prairie says good bye to seniors Addie Rath, Anna Vilovchik and Delaney Smith, ending their season at 12-10. Tipton advances to play Davenport Assumption Wednesday.
