Washington County’s Attorney has announced his bid to keep the position in the next election.

John Gish was appointed to the position by the Board of Supervisors to fulfill the remainder of the term, following the appointment of Shawn Showers to District Court Judge in 2016. Gish is seeking the Republican nomination for the position in June’s primary. Prior to being named county attorney, he was an assistant county attorney for Washington and Keokuk Counties and practiced in civil law, prior to that he served eight years as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves, including time overseas in the Global War on Terrorism.
