After a warm up from mid-October through the last week that saw temperatures consistently in the 60s and 70s, weather in southeast Iowa has taken a turn toward more traditional late autumn mercury readings.

The area received it’s first hard freeze of the year over the weekend with the National Weather Service issuing a freeze warning for all of southeast Iowa Saturday night into Sunday morning. Temperatures recorded in the listening area dropped to 25 degrees through the overnight hours Saturday into Sunday. Temperatures this week are expected to peak in the 40s and 50s for daytime highs with overnight lows in the 40s after Monday.
