A classic children’s novel is being brought to life at Mid-Prairie High School as they perform “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.”

Based on the 1950 book by C.S. Lewis of “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, the play is about four siblings who in WWII-era England discover a fictional land through an old wardrobe. The story features talking animals and mythical creatures.

Student director Maizy Fugate, who is portraying sister Susan Pevensie, describes how these magical characters will look onstage, “It’s not going to be your typical furry onesie-type animals on stage. You’ll definitely be able to tell which animals are which. It’s going to be a lot through the colors of their clothing and a lot through facial prosthetics and through makeup, which is going to be a huge part of it. We also do have these paper horns and beaks that the birds are going to be wearing and really cool details like that.”

Annessa Meader who is playing youngest sibling Lucy Pevensie tells why people should see the play, “I think people should come out to see it, because I think it will be a great family event. There’s things for little kids and there’s also things for adults that it will just bring people together and be a good time.”

Mid-Prairie High School Drama Department presents “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” November 3-5. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students.
