Despite more precipitation during mid-October, dry conditions continue across the KCII listening area.

In the latest report from the United States Drought Monitor more than 27% of the state is abnormally dry, encompassing all of southeast Iowa. This is compared to 28% last week. Just under 6% of the state is listed as suffering from moderate drought, compared to 8.6% last week. Those spots in the KCII listening area include northern Johnson county, southeastern Jefferson county and western Henry county. A year ago, only 5% of the state was seeing abnormally dry conditions, with no drought recorded.
