Emergency authorities responded to two wrecks within 40 minutes on Highway 1 in Washington Thursday morning.

According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 10:42 a.m. the first wreck with minor injuries was reported at the intersection of Highway 1 and West 18th Street. The two drivers were Robert Shelangoski of Brighton and Richard Wehr of Washington. Shelangoski was cited for failure to stop at a safe and assured distance.

Then at 11:08 a.m., an ambulance crew reported to dispatch witnessing a two-vehicle wreck at the Highway 1 and West 5th Street intersection. An airbag deployed and there were minor injuries. Both drivers were juveniles and names were not released. One driver was cited for failure to yield prior to entering a roadway. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Washington County Ambulance, Washington Fire Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Washington Rescue, and Washington Police Department responded to the wrecks.
