Several KCII area teams are gaining notice at the statewide level on the high school gridiron.

The Washington Demons are receiving votes in this week’s class 3A Associated Press poll. After a 64-7 win over Albia on Friday, Washington is the fifth team receiving votes in the poll with seven total.

In class 1A, despite a season opening loss to rival Pekin, the Sigourney-Keota Cobras are receiving votes in this week’s Associated Press poll. SK is the ninth team receiving votes with one total.

In 8-man football Lone Tree checks in at No. 10 this week in the Associated Press poll. The Lions have been impressive so far this year, staring the season 2-0 with wins over Central City and Tri-County by a combined 93-18 score. Also in the 8-man game the WACO Warriors are receiving votes in this week’s poll. Despite starting 0-2, the Warriors are the sixth team receiving votes with four total.
