The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk volleyball team opens up the River Valley Conference season tonight when they travel to Durant.

The Hawks enter play with an overall record of 3-1, fresh off of a sweep last week of the rival Washington Demons. Maya Hall leads Mid-Prairie with 20 kills. Caitlyn Riggan holds the team lead with 56 assists and Alison Yoder paces the Hawks with 33 digs.

Durant enters with tonight serving as their season opener. The Wildcats are coming off of a 2016 that saw them finish with a 13-17 overall record and a 3-8 record in the RVC. The Wildcats return kills leader Kamryn Meyer who finished last year with 267. Ruby Kappeler is also back for her junior season after a 2016 where she ended with a team best 517 assists. Kappeler is also the leading returner on the Durant defense, finishing last year with 274 digs.

Last year the Wildcats defeated the Golden Hawks in four games in Wellman. Action begins tonight at 7:15p.m. in Durant.
