A trio of area schools in Washington (0-5), Columbus Community (0-3), and Keota (0-2) will travel to Wapello today for a volleyball tournament.

Washington will be searching for their first win of the season after falling in their first five contests. Isabel Bailey has paced the Demons offensively with eight kills. Hannah Anderson has been a force at the net with four blocks, and Morgan Brinning has 19 digs.

Columbus Community got their season started up last week losing three games in a tournament at WACO. Maki Mendenhall had a solid senior debut racking up 17 kills and connected on 19 serves that resulted in five aces. Courtney Zaehringer has been a solid setter with 25 assists on the young season.

The Eagles dropped a pair of games in their own tournament last week against Mid-Prairie and Highland. Jillian Schulte returns as the assist leader from a year ago with 120. Addison Swanson is the leading returner offensively with 41 kills in 2016 and Addison Sprouse returns with 151 digs.

Other schools in attendance are Central Lee, English Valleys, Wilton, and host Wapello. The games get started at 4 p.m. tonight at Wapello High School.
