The Mid-Prairie School District is seeing improved insurance rates on workers’ compensation.

Insurance Agent Gary Fisher presented an update to the school board at their recent meeting. He said that worker’s compensation experience at Mid-Prairie is excellent, and the district is seeing an 11% reduction from standard insurance rates, or about $12,000 this year in premium costs.

Superintendent Mark Schneider says, “The rates went down. One of the things that we’re diligent about is looking out for our employees’ safety. Our Human Resources Coordinator Carmela Ulin does a fantastic job of coordinating that and staying on top of that. So I think our due diligence is paying off in trying to keep injuries in the district to a minimum.”

Fisher presented a step stool to Schneider and each principal to underline the importance of using proper equipment when staff need to climb to accomplish a task. Fisher also mentioned the legislative changes to workers’ compensation rights that were effective July 1.
