The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls cross country team blew away the competition Saturday at Cedar Rapids Prairie, winning the small school division of the meet.

The No. 2 in Class 2A Golden Hawks ended with a team score of 40, 21 better than second place and No. 1 ranked Monticello. Mid-Prairie was led by Anna Hostetler who grabbed the individual championship with a time of 18:25. Marie Hostetler was second overall in 18:28. Those were the fastest times of the day regardless of division. Other finishes for Mid-Prairie included Anna Fleming fourth, Moriah Brace 16th, Abbagail Evans 18th, Kessa Jones 25th and Kate Cavanagh 28th.

 

The Golden Hawk boys finished in third place of 10 teams in the small school division. Mid-Prairie finished with a team score of 82. Cedar Rapids Xavier won the title with 62 points, Mount Vernon was second with 78. Top finisher for the Golden Hawks was Floyd Evans in 17:29, taking second overall. Other finishes for Mid-Prairie included, Peyton Miller 10th, Zach Pettit 16th, Quinn Schmidt 26th, Cary Schaefer 28th, Miles Burrows 29th and David Fleming 41st.
