The City of Crawfordsville is improving children’s safety in their local park.

The city received a $4,445 grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation to upgrade their Water Tower Park. City Clerk Carolyn Love says the grant, along with matching funds, will pay to dig up the grounds underneath the park’s playground and install nine inches of wood chips. Love said the city applied for the grant after receiving suggestions from their insurance provider that the park should have a fall barrier for the children. There is no set date on when the wood chips will be put in place.
