The Sigourney boys’ golf team travels down to Belle Plaine tonight for the South Iowa Cedar League meet.

The showdown features the top two golfers in the SICL including the Plainsmen’s Chance Baburek and Sigourney’s Kaden Benson. Benson has a season average of 41.2 strokes per nine holes just ahead of Baburek’s 41.71. The Savages team average is 189 strokes per nine holes, sixth in the conference. Dustin Haines has held his own for Sigourney posting a season average of 45.2 strokes, good enough for eighth in the league and his 18-hole round of 82 marks the best for the team. Rounding out the top four is Nick Goad with a season average of 48, and Cole Weber with a 52. The Savages will have their hands full against a Plainsmen squad that is third in the conference with a team average of 184.9 strokes.

The conference matchup gets started at 2 p.m. today at Belle Plaine High School.
