WACO High School held their annual Ekstrand Relays Thursday night at Roth Field in Wayland.

The Highland Huskies had the top area girls team finish taking second place in the Class B division with a score of 99 points. Danville won the meet with 127. The Huskies had three championship events on the night. Emily Yahnke won the long jump clearing 16’5”, Kaylee Rath took the shot put with a throw of 30’11.75” and the 4×100 team won their event with a time of 52.91 seconds.

Lone Tree was fourth with 67 points. The Lady Lions got the event win in the 4×800 with a time of 12:03.27.

Iowa Mennonite was fifth of eight teams with a score of 57 points. Emma Beachy brought home the title in the discus for IMS throwing 95’1”.

Winfield-Mt. Union also finished with 57 points. The Wolves had two champions on the night. Ceclilia Hemsworth won the 800 with a time of 2:34.90 and Pearl Krieger-Coble took the 1500 in 5:31.23.

WACO was seventh with 54 points. Kasey Sutton won the 100 hurdles for the Warriors in 17.48 seconds and the shuttle hurdle relay team was a winner with a time of 1:13.33.

The Washington girls were sixth in the six team Class A division with 36.40 points. The best finish for the Demon girls came from the 4×800 team that took third.
