Statewide recognition has been given to a pair of upperclassmen on the Sigourney-Keota wrestling team ahead of the new year. Sigourney-Keota is undefeated in nine duals this winter, and is in Class 1A’s dual team rankings at No. 9 from The Predicament and No 10. by the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association. Multiple media outlets have also placed Kaleb Reeves (195) and Noah Boender (220) in their latest Class 1A individual top 10 polls.

Reeves has received a pair of top five rankings. The Predicament rates Reeves as their No. 2 grappler at 195 pounds; IAwrestle grades him as their No. 4 wrestler. Reeves won 13 of his 15 matches prior to winter break. He’s a two-time state qualifier at 182 pounds and placed seventh in last year’s state tournament.

Boender’ is recognized as a top 10 wrestler by both The Predicament and IAwrestle. The Predicament ranks him No. 7 at 220; IAwrestle placed Boender No. 9 in their poll. He’s undefeated in 15 grapples this season and placed first overall at the Willard Howell, Mount Vernon, and Regina Invitationals. Boender is a two-time state qualifier at 195 pounds.

The Sigourney-Keota wrestling team resumes South Iowa Cedar League competition Thursday, grappling in a conference quadrangular against Colfax-Mingo, Lynnville-Sully, and HLV. First duals will commence at 6 p.m. at Colfax-Mingo High School.
