The Mid-Prairie boys and girls cross country teams have been running all season with a target on their back.

In the final set of rankings for 2016, the Mid-Prairie boys are No. 3 in class 2A with an overall record of 99-6 without a loss to a 2A school all season. Mid-Prairie has not dropped out of the top 10 all season. The Golden Hawks captured their second straight state qualifier meet championship last Thursday in Pella by a 24 point margin. Individually, MId-Prairie has two ranked runners in the final 2A poll of the year with junior Peyton Miller checking in at No. 13 and junior Zach Pettit at No. 14.

The Mid-Prairie girls are No. 4 in class 2A with an overall record of 76-10. Mid-Prairie has not dropped out of the top 10 all season. The Hawks were also state qualifier meet champions for the second straight year last week in Pella, edging CMB by a 61-62 count. Individually, Mid-Prairie has two ranked runners in the final 2A poll of the year with junior Anna Hostetler ranked No. 1 in the state in class 2A. Hostetler has not lost a race all season. Freshman Marie Hostetler is ranked No. 2 in the state in class 2A. She has finished as runner up in every race this season.

Both teams will be in action this Saturday in Fort Dodge at the class 2A Iowa State Cross Country Meet.
