Despite her team missing the cut by four strokes, Columbus senior Kourtney Orr has qualified for next week’s Class 2A state golf tournament. The Wildcat girls’ golf team participated in Monday’s Class 2A Region 3 tournament held at the Edmunson Golf Course in Oskaloosa. The top two teams and the top five placing golfers would move onto the state meet.

The Wildcats finished their regional final round with a collective score of 401, falling four strokes short of the final qualifying spot. Orr led the Wildcats’ with the lowest score of 88, tying her for second place individually. Her performance qualifies her for the Class 2A state golf tournament to be held Tuesday and Wednesday at Jester Park in Granger.

This is the second straight season Orr will represent Columbus at the state golf tournament. She finished in 23rd place in last year’s Class 2A event, carding a two-day score of 191.
