The primary election is nearly two weeks away and many local residents have thrown their hat into the ring. On the Republican ballot, three men are running for Washington County Sheriff – Kirk Bailey, Ken Miller and Jared Schneider. Also, there is a primary race for House District 78 between incumbent Jarad Klein and small business owner and Washington resident Marcus Fedler.

Also for Republicans there are contested races in two supervisor districts. District 2 Stephanie Schlabaugh si challenging incumbent Bob Yoder and in District 4 incumbent Stan Stoops and former Washington City councilman Robert Shepherd are running for the nomination.

The only contested race on the Democratic ballot for the primary is to nominate a candidate to run for U.S. Senator; the candidates are Thomas Fiegen, Robert Hogg, Patty Judge and Bob Krause.
