With money in the current budget and upcoming fiscal year, and savings from a mild winter, the Washington County Board of Supervisors approved an amendment to the current five-year road program for the county. County Engineer Jacob Thorius explained they’re planned projects but they’re amending the date so that they can be let now instead of at the start of the fiscal year to get on contractors’ schedules.

He explained the work will include reshaping, cleaning the edges and working on the crown. The work will be done on Juniper Avenue from G26 to G20, on 170th Street from Riverside Road to Orange Avenue, on 180th from Riverside Road to Nutmeg Avenue, and on Orange Avenue from G26 up to 170th. Also, county crews will replace some pipe with pre-cast to have a more permanent fix.

Supervisor Abe Miller wanted to wait to vote until he could see the roads in person. The action was approved unanimously.
