The top distance runner for the Highland Huskies boys track team currently owns Class 1A’s best two mile time. On Tuesday, senior Keiffer Sexton broke a nine-year Washington Relays record in the Class C 3200 meter run at Case Field. Sexton clocked his two mile run at 10:01.27, 3.5 seconds better than the previous record holder Casey Robertson of Columbus.

Entering the weekend, Sexton’s time in the 3200 meter run tops the entire Class 1A field by a full nine seconds. West Fork junior Jacob Hansen holds the second best time in the event, clocking his best two mile run of the spring at 10:10.89. Sexton trails Hansen for the best 1600 meter run time, currently ranking third in Class 1A with a time of 4:45.87. Hansen currently has the best one mile mark, running four laps around the track in 4:39.75.

Sexton and the Huskies boys track team returns to competition Monday, participating in the Falcon Relays hosted by West Burlington High School.
