The Mid-Prairie Jazz Band traveled to Cedar Falls for the 61st Annual Tallcorn Jazz Festival this past weekend. The band found success with their highest finish since 1976. The group took home second place honors with first place going to Southeast Valley in Class 2A.

The Mt. Pleasant jazz band also competed, winning the Class 3A crown over 11 other schools competing. In Class 1A Winfield-Mt. Union took home third place. Both schools are qualified for a potential Wild Card birth into the Iowa Jazz Championships in April. The Iowa Jazz Championships Board of Directors will select the Wild Card winners on March 14th.
