The committee raising funds for the Washington Area Performing Arts and Events Center has announced they are still trying to raise just over $333,000 before they have to cut certain items from the project. The gap has been cut by about $108,000 but the group is still needing donations. An item that could be eliminated if funds aren’t available are the acoustic wall panels which cost $42,000, but according to the committee not having these would greatly diminish the sound quality in the new auditorium.

Gifts to the project can be made by sponsoring a chair at $250. Each seat sponsorship will be recognized with a label. Also, Jan Gallagher shares donations of $1,000 or more will be honored on the Donor Wall in the lobby and they are accepting gifts for the Helen Thorne Memorial Scene Construction Shop.

So far, $7,324,010 has been raised for the project, in part due to funds from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, Vision Iowa, Washington Betterment Foundation, the Brinton Trust, the City, the County and private donors.
