The Iowa Mennonite boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Danville on Saturday night, for doubleheader action against the Bears.

The Iowa Mennonite girls were beaten 35-15. The first half featured stiff defense from both teams, with Danville holding a slim 5-4 lead after the first quarter and 11-8 advantage at the halftime break. The Bears made big adjustments at halftime and outscored Iowa Mennonite 24-7 in the second half including 12-0 in the third quarter. Emma Jarrett led Danville with nine points. With the loss the IMS girls fall to 0-14 on the year.

The Iowa Mennonite boys had the tall task of facing the No. 2 ranked Bears on their home floor. IMS was able to hang around but in the end the Bears were too much, winning 72-64. Danville held a slight lead at 15-13 after the first quarter and at the half things were still tight with the Bears on top 33-29. The third quarter was even with each team putting up 15 points. In the fourth quarter the Bears were able to do enough to salt the game away for the eight point win. IMS was led on the night by Nick Yutzy with 15 points, Eli Gingerich had 14, Jacob Schmeider added 13 and Drake Brezina finished with a double double with 10 points and 10 boards. With the loss IMS falls to 9-6 on the year as they prepare to travel to Louisa-Muscatine tonight.
