The Southeast Conference layoff for the Washington Demon basketball programs comes to a close tonight. The Demons return to league play tonight in Fairfield, battling the Trojans in a conference doubleheader. This marks the first conference game for the Demons since competing against the Mount Pleasant Panthers on January 8.

The Washington boys’ basketball team (4-9 overall) returns to the floor after a positive performance Tuesday night. The Demons scored a season-high 83 points, beating the Davis County Mustangs (2-11 overall) by 17. Senior guard Derek Anding poured in a team-best 31 points, tying his career high. Washington defeated Fairfield, 63-52, in the first meeting between the schools on December 11. Sophomore Dalton Myers scored a team-high 16 points in his first varsity basketball game versus the Trojans.

The Washington girls’ basketball team (6-7 overall) is searching for their first road win of the season, falling 50-38 in Muscatine Tuesday. Senior forward Addie Pacha scored 11 of her team-high 15 points after halftime, while senior McKayla Miller came off the bench to provide eight points and eight rebounds. Washington dropped their first meeting against Fairfield, 66-52, on December 11. Sophomore Sarah Nacos came off the bench in the game, scoring a team-best 12 points.
