Many Iowans have flocked to Pasadena, California to cheer for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes in the Rose Bowl today. A couple in Washington is associated with the Hawkeye Marching Band. Lisa Hughes has been a seamstress for the band for about 10 years and this year fit the new uniforms to each of the 250 band members.

Lisa’s husband, Don Hughes, is the Washington High School band director and marched in the 1986 Rose Bowl and Rose Bowl Parade playing trumpet for the Hawkeyes. He tells KCII News the band practiced more for the Rose Bowl than they did for the other bowls he participated in. To hear the full conversation click here for part one and part two.
