A senior for the Sigourney Savage boys’ basketball team (5-4 overall) is the top scorer this month in the South Iowa Cedar League. The Savages played in nine games during the final month of 2015, winning five of those contests.

Accounting for one-third of Sigourney’s offensive output this season is forward Blaine Gretter, who posted a South Iowa Cedar League best 188 points during December. He recorded double-double performances in three games, while scoring 20 or more points six different times.

Gretter scored his 1,000th career point on December 12 in a 55-53 victory against the Van Buren Warriors (5-4 overall) in Keosauqua.

His best statistical performance came on December 14 against the Washington Demons (2-5 overall). Gretter scored a season-high 31 points and grabbed down 12 rebounds in a 75-66 setback to the Demons.

Gretter and the Savages return to the floor January 5, traveling to Brooklyn for a South Iowa Cedar League battle versus the B.G.M Bears (5-3 overall).
