The Washington Demon bowling team finished their pre-Christmas competition schedule over the weekend. The Demons competed at Arrowhead Bowl in Keokuk Saturday afternoon, battling the Chiefs in a pair of Southeast Conference matches.

The Washington boys’ bowling team (3-1 overall) suffered their first loss on the lanes this season, falling 2710-2581 to Keokuk. The Chiefs held a 1768-1702 lead in the individual rounds, and outscored the Demons, 942-879, in the baker rounds for the meet victory. Junior Kylan Gillette posted a team-best 378 points in the individual round for Washington, throwing a 224 in game one. Junior Collin Zear added a two-game score of 370 in the setback.

The Demon girls’ bowling team (1-3 overall) lost their third competition in a row, dropping 2590-1600 to the Chiefs. Keokuk jumped out to a 1712-1029 advantage after the individual rounds, and increased their lead in the baker rounds, 878-571. Sophomore AnnaMarie Walter recorded a squad-most 242 points in two individual games, while freshman Trista Kelly had 218 points in the defeat.

The Washington bowlers have completed competition for this calendar year. They are set to return to competition Saturday, January 16, versus the Fairfield Trojans at Flamingo Lanes.
