The Highland Huskies and Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves matched up Tuesday night on the volleyball hard court in Winfield.

This was the second meeting between the two squads this season, Highland had beaten the Wolves on August 29th in the West Branch tournament. Tuesday night it was Winfield’s turn as the Wolves posted a hard fought five game win over the Huskies by scores of 7-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-8. In the win the Wolves were led by Pearl Krieger-Coble and Lauren Jamison with 10 kills each. Caitlin Jamison dished out a team high 25 assists, Cassidy Lennie had 32 digs and Kara Wade was 16 of 19 at the service line with four aces.

The Huskies got big nights from Briana Davis with 13 kills, Sydney Black had 12 and Bailey Harmston 10. Jenna Dresselhaus dished out 29 assists and had 29 digs while Kelsey Hora led Highland defensively with 31 digs. The win is the fourth in a row for Winfield-Mt. Union, running the Wolves overall record to 12-11, they stand at 4-1 in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference. Highland is 14-8 overall and 3-2 in the SEISC. The Wolves will next be in action Thursday night when they host perennial power Mediapolis while the Huskies play next Thursday night when they host the Wapello Arrows.
