The Mid-Prairie volleyball team hosted their Golden Hawk Invitational on Saturday in Wellman.

Mid-Prairie placed third in competition, finishing the day with a 3-1 record. The Golden Hawks opened the day with a sweep of the rival Washington Demons two sets to none by scores of 21-9 and 21-11. In the match the Hawks were led by Jaedynn Evans with seven kills and six digs. Clarice Murphy dished out 10 assists.

In the second match of the day Mid-Prairie made it two wins in a row, downing area school Sigourney in straight sets 21-20 and 21-10. Stat leaders in the match for Mid-Prairie included Jaedynn Evans with seven kills, Clarice Murphy with nine assists and Emily Cayton with six digs.

In the champions bracket Mid-Prairie suffered their only loss of the day falling to Iowa City Regina two games to one by scores of 20-25, 25-22 and 13-15. The Golden Hawks were led in their matchup with the Regals by Ali Butters and Emily Cayton with eight kills apiece, Clarice Murphy with 13 assists and Evans with 11 digs.

Mid-Prairie ended their day on a winning note in the third place match taking out the Washington Demons for a second time 25-16 and 25-12. Mid-Prairie was led in their final match by Jaedynn Evans with eight kills, Clarice Murphy with nine assists and Emily Cayton with nine digs. With the 3-1 showing Mid-Prairie now stands at 9-10 overall and will next be in action Thursday when they host the Washington Demons.
