The City of Washington is again hosting a fall clean up. This year’s event will be held a week from today on October 2nd and 3rd. The city council approved of a central site drop-off at the waste water treatment plant and yard waste center, located at 1065 West Buchanan Street.

Residents of Washington will be able to get rid of junk, furniture, and household hazardous waste like oil-based paint. Also, appliances will be accepted for $5 and electronics at $10 each. The City will assist with special pickups of appliances for those who are unable to take them to the site for an additional $5 per appliance; to schedule a pick up contact City Hall (653-6584) by Thursday, October 1st.

The cleanup site will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. next Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, October 3rd and only cash will be accepted on site.

Items not accepted:
– household garbage
– concrete, brick and rock
– hazardous materials such as but no limited to: explosives, drugs, materials soaked in volatile chemicals
– tires and waste oil
– shingles
– latex paint (if paint is dried, cans can be disposed of in regular garbage)
– items from outside Washington City limits
