Mother nature pushing their season opening win back a day had no affect on the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves football team (1-0 overall). The Wolves were the only KCII-area team to have their contest rained out on Friday, resuming game action Saturday afternoon in Marego against the Iowa Valley Tigers (0-1 overall). A balanced offensive attack mixed with a stellar defensive performance helped WMU to a 50-0 victory over the Tigers.

The Wolves’ offense amassed 401 yards of total offense. Senior Kolt Rossiter threw for 181 yards, scoring three touchdowns and throwing an interception to lead W-MU. Three of the Wolves running backs rushed for over 50 yards. Senior Darren Hunter collected 84 yards rushing on nine carries and scored two touchdowns. Junior Bryce Robinson rushed for 66 yards on five carries and scored a touchdown. Rossiter added 54 rushing yards to his offensive night.

Senior Zach Davis was a notable performer on both sides of the ball. Davis scored two touchdowns as a wide receiver, including a 90-yards touchdown pass. He also caught two interceptions in the win.

The victory gives the Wolves a 1-0 record to begin the season. -MU hosts the Wapello Indians (1-0 overall) on Friday. Wapello won their opener versus the New London Tigers, 44-14.
