The pitcher responsible for breaking Keota’s 43 game losing streak earlier this summer has earned accolades from the coaches of the South Iowa Cedar League. Junior Zach Mousel was voted to the all-conference second team as a pitcher.

Mousel accounted for over 50 percent of Keota’s innings pitched this season, recording a 5-4 record, and posting an team low earned run average of 3.80. He also had a 2:1 strikeout to walk ratio, fanning 56 batters while walking 23, and posted a team best opponent batting average of .274. Mousel was the winning pitcher on May 27 when the Eagles snapped a 43-game losing streak, defeating the Hartwick-Ladora-Victor (H-L-V) Warriors 17-2. It represented the first Eagles victory on the baseball diamond since July 7 2012.

Junior Nate Sieren and sophomore Jacob Wickencamp were named all-conference honorable mentions.

The Eagles’ 2015 season ended with a 9-17 overall record, finishing ninth in the South Iowa Cedar League standings with a 7-13 conference record.
