A late game offensive explosion hindered the Iowa Mennonite School softball team (1-14 overall) Thursday evening. As heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and KCIIRadio.com, IMS welcomed the Mediapolis Bullettes (13-10 overall) to rural Kalona for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference clash. The Bulletes scored 12 of their 14 runs after the fourth inning, propelling Mediapolis to a 14-5 victory.

Mediapolis got off to a solid start, hitting three straight singles in the top of the first, scoring a pair of runners for a 2-0 lead after half an inning. The score would stay intact until the bottom of the third when IMS scored three runs, highlighted by an Averie Blauvelt triple, to gain a 3-2 advantage. IMS held the one run lead until the bottom of the fifth, allowing three runs in the frame to fall behind 5-3. Mediapolis batted around in the sixth and sent 10 batters to the plate in the seventh inning to increase the lead to double digits. IMS scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings, bringing the final score to 14-5.

The loss drops IMS to 1-14 overall on the season. They return to the field on Saturday to compete against the Central Lee Hawks in Kalona.
