A special election will be held in the Washington Community School District this summer. Last night the school board approved holding a special election regarding $2.3 million for general obligation bonds. The money will be used to construct a preschool wing attached to Stewart Elementary School.
Debbie Stanton, director of the Washington Public Library and mother of a kindergarten student, delivered a petition to the board with signatures of those who support the project. In February, the Women of Washington Iowa Endowment voted to gift funds to the new child care center.
The election will be held June 30th from noon to 8 p.m.
