A pair of junior basketball players helped the Sigourney Savage boys’ basketball team (17-5 overall) advance their season Tuesday night. The Savages traveled to Molten-Udell High School for Class 1A District 10 semifinal contest with the Twin Cedars Sabers (12-11 overall), with Sigourney coming away with a 63-53 victory.

Junior Blane Gretter scored 25 points for a second straight game to led the Savages, while junior Matus Stevko chipped in 20 points in the victory.

The win improves Sigourney to 17-5 overall and sets up a South Iowa Cedar League district final with conference foe Lynnville-Sully. The Savages and Hawks split the season series, with the road team winning each contest. The Class 1A District 10 championship between Sigourney and Lynnville-Sully is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at a site yet to be determined.
