The regular season ended on a positive note Thursday evening for the Washington Demon boys’ basketball team (6-15 overall). The Demons went on the road for the regular season finale, facing off against the Grinnell Tigers (11-10 overall).

Washington junior guard Derek Anding scored a game-high 22 points to lead Washington to a 57-50 victory over Grinnell. The win snaps a season-long nine game losing streak, and is the first triumph for the Demons since their 61-60 victory over Davis County on Jan. 20.

Senior guard Thomas Bump chipped in 17 points, while freshman forward Javionn Willis scored 10 points in the win.

Washington improves to 6-15 overall on the season. The Demons open up the postseason in the Class 3A District 9 tournament against the Williamsburg Raiders (19-1 overall). Williamsburg defeated Washington 78-53 Tuesday night in a non conference basketball game at Washington High School.
