The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is acquiring two tracts of land in Louisa County. The Natural Resource Commission approved the purchase of 246 acres near Wapello at their meeting Thursday. One tract is adjacent to the Millrace Flats Wildlife Management Area. The other is located next to the Turtle Bend Wildlife Management Area. Both are being purchased from the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation for around $258,000. The acquisition is being made possible in part by funding through the North American Wetlands Conservation Act and Wildlife Habitat Stamp.
