The Mid-Prairie wrestling team went to Northeast Goose Lake for a triangular meet and improved their record. Mid-Prairie would take both duals beating Northeast Goose Lake 43-27 and beating Durant 54-18.
The Golden Hawks had strong performances from some of their key contributing wrestlers. Sophomore Duncan McCain (113) had an easy night getting two forfeits. Senior Josh Murphy (120) won both of his matches with a fall and a forfeit. Junior Visouth Petershemidt (170) had a fall and a forfeit. Junior Camron Tolander (195) won on an ultimate tie breaker and a fall.
The two wins guaranteed Mid-Prairie a winning record for the season at 12-10.
Mid-Prairie will travel today to Cascade High School for their conference tournament. According to coach Justin Garvey the conference tournament does not determine who goes to the state tournament, but is big bragging rights for area teams. Next Saturday during sectionals determines who goes to regionals, which is the top two teams of six teams move on to regionals. Then the top team at regionals goes to the state tournament.
