A Columbus Junction man has pled not guilty to child endangerment. Oscar Jimenez was arrested last Tuesday, a day after his four-month-old daughter suffered severe head trauma and had to be transported to the University of Iowa Hospital.

On Saturday, four-month-old Marleen Jimenez died at the hospital. An autopsy was performed and investigators are waiting for results of the autopsy, as the investigation is ongoing.

The 20-year-old father was taken into custody following a search of his home in Columbus Junction. According to Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation Special Agent Richard Rahn, the type of evidence found during the search that incriminated Jimenez is being kept confidential.

The defendant is charged with multiple acts of child endangerment, a class B Felony punishable by up to 50 years in prison. He’s currently being held at the Louisa County Jail on $250,000 cash only bond. His preliminary hearing is set for Friday morning.
