A crucial game a top the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Standings takes place tonight in Lone Tree. The Highland Huskies boys basketball team (12-2 overall; 10-2 SEISC North) visits their rivals the Lone Tree Lions (12-3 overall; 11-2 SEISC North) for a conference showdown.

The two teams each come into tonight’s game with identical conference records, and the winner of tonight’s game takes sole possession of first place in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North standings with four conference games remaining in the season. Highland won the initial meeting between the schools, coming away with a 51-50 victory at Highland High School on Dec. 16. Highland is 4-1 in conference road games this season, while Lone Tree is 4-1 in conference home games this season.

The matchup features two of the best guards in the SEISC North. Highland sophomore Trent Lasek is averaging 14.1 points per game, the sixth highest average in the conference, and is dishing out a fourth-best 67 assists this season. Lone Tree sophomore Jovonte Squires is the conference’s eighth best scorer averaging 14 points per game while delivering a conference-leading 81 assists.
