The Washington Demon boys’ basketball team (5-7 overall; 1-2 Southeast) is scheduled to face a top team in the Southeast Conference tonight. Washington returns to the court tonight in Fort Madison against the Bloodhounds (11-2 overall; 4-1 Southeast).

Tonight’s battle with Fort Madison is the first between the schools this season. Washington has not beaten the Bloodhounds in boys’ basketball since the 2011-12 season, a span of four regular season games. Fort Madison is led by senior Miles Wentzien, who is averaging a conference-leading 21.4 points per game and is the conference’s top rebounder averaging 8.5 boards per game. Fort Madison is on a current 10 game winning streak coming into play tonight.

Washington lost their recent conference game, a 44-42 setback to the Fairfield Trojans at Washington High School Friday evening. Junior guard Derek Anding had a team-high 10 points and grabbed five rebounds in the setback.

The boys’ varsity basketball game between Washington and Fort Madison is scheduled to tip off at 7:45 p.m. at Fort Madison High School.
