The Keota boys basketball team is coming into the second half of the season with a 5-3 record. The three losses so far this season match the total number of games they lost last year, when they placed fourth in the state. However, all three losses come from the top three teams in the South Iowa Cedar Conference, two of which are undefeated.
The Eagles are led by senior Nate Owen averaging 18.8 points per game. Junior Zach Mousel has 17 points per game with junior Isaiah Hahn adding an average of 11 points.
Keota head coach Dan Stout says while the team is getting better there some things on the defensive side that they will be working on, “We will be working on the ball defense. When we went to man-to- man we just haven’t been really able to stop guys from getting to the basket or coming off the screen and getting open.”
Keota will start the 2015 part of their schedule at home when they take on win less conference opponent, HLV, next Monday, January 5th, in Keota.
