The  Lone Tree Lion boys’ and girls’ basketball team will be busy during this first week of December.  The squads are scheduled to play three conference basketball games over the next five days.

The games begin this evening as the Lion boys’ and girls’ basketball teams face off against the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons in Letts. Lone Tree returns to action Tuesday evening hosting the Columbus Wildcats in a double header. The Lions’ basketball week ends Friday evening in a double header against the Mediapolis Bulldogs/Bullettes in Mediapolis.

Lone Tree boys’ basketball coach Tom Squiers says having three conference games the first week of the season is always a challenge. “One of our goals is to win a conference championship,” Squiers said, “So we can’t slip this week, and we have to be prepared. It’s a mental thing for us.”

Lone Tree girls’ basketball coach Johnathan Harshman sees the upcoming week as a unique early season challenge for his team. “Because we are young, hopefully we can take that challenge,” Harshman said, “We will come out ready (today) and Tuesday and get a few days to prepare for Mediapolis.”

The Lion girls’ basketball team fell 63-30 against the Pekin Panthers in their season opener last Tuesday in Lone Tree.

Tonight’s varisty double header between the Lone Tree Lions and the Louisa Muscatine Falcons tips off at 6 p.m.
