The Washington Demon football team was well represented on this year’s all-district team. The Class 3 District 5 coaches released their 2014 all-district team, honorable mentions, and academic all district honoree on Monday afternoon. Eight players were named to the all-district team, seven were named honorable mention, and 19 academic all-district honorees.

Headlining the all-district team is senior quarterback Daryn Sebelius. Sebelius, an all-district selection in 2013, is currently first in the state in total touchdowns (33) and second in Class 3A in total yards (2959). Senior Jacob Hennigan made the all-district team as a running back. Number 29, who started the year at slot receiver, finished the year with 1516 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns.

Several of the guys blocking for Sebelius and Hennigan were recognized for their efforts by the district coaches. Senior Tommy Peterson was named an all-district lineman for a second straight season, while sophomore Seth Townsen received his first all-district selection. Senior Kyle Collier and sophomore Aaron Vittetoe were named as honorable mentions.

Juniors Dakota Suchan and Jack Giardino were named as all-district honorable mention wide receivers. Suchan finished second on the team in receiving yards (482).  Giardino finished second on the team in touchdown catches (3), third in receptions (30) and yards (376).

The all-district defensive team included a handful of Demons along the front seven. Senior Thomas Bump and Alex Gonzalez find themselves on the all-district team as defensive lineman. Bump led the district in fumble recoveries (5), finished second in the district in total tackles (71), and sixth in tackles for loss (14).  Gonzalez finished third on the team in total sacks (2), and fifth on the team in total tackles (49.5).

A pair of brothers represents the Demons at linebacker. Senior Brad Skubal made the all-district squad while his brother, sophomore Karlton Skubal was named as an honorable mention selection. Senior Jeff Knupp also made the all-district team as an honorable selection at linebacker. Brad finished third on the team in total tackles (59.5) and fourth in tackles for loss (9). Karlton and Knupp finished tied for sixth on the team in total tackles (40.5).

The academic all district selections for Washington include: Jack Giardino, Ethan Hansen, Tanner Renoux, Bryce Rickey, Jacob Hennigan, Jeff Knupp, Grant Marek, Gage Redlinger, Dayrn Sebelius, Sydney Hoffman, Addison Gaal , Jordan Stout, Kaitlin Hora, Morgan Kimball, Alexy England, Kaylee Vogel, Paige Letcher, Stephanie Loy, and Caitlin Moravec.

The Washington Demons finished the regular season 8-4 overall, including  a 5-1 record in district play.
