The Highland Huskies’ football team is looking to end their current losing streak this evening. The Huskies (3-4 overall; 2-3 in district) will celebrate Senior Night as the Eddyville-Blakesburg Rockets (3-4 overall; 2-2 in district) come to town for a district contest. Eight Huskies players will play their final home game at Highland this evening.

Seniors include Brian Garcia, Ben Bean, Jesse Wollrab, Zach Kleopfer, Josh Kasparek, Lane Welsh, Jake Yeggy and Colton Schneider.

If Highland wants to end their current three game winning streak, they might want to look to the defensive side of the ball. The past three weeks Highland has given up an average of 49 points in losses to Iowa City Regina, Pella Christian, and Sigourney-Keota. During their three wins this season, Highland has given up 12 points or less.

The Huskies are led offensively by sophomore quarterback Jake Wood, who has thrown for 1234 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. Senior running back Brian Garcia has rushed for 887 yards and has scored eight touchdowns in 2014.

Eddyville-Blakesburg comes into the game winners of their last two football games. The Rockets are currently in third place in the district. Eddyville-Blakesburg is led offensively by junior running back Treg Van Dorin, who has 835 yards and seven touchdowns..
