The Mid Prairie Golden Hawks volleyball team completed one of their best weeks in recent memory on Saturday.

Coming off a four set match win against conference foe Tipton on Thursday, Mid Prairie welcomed in five area schools for their annual Hawks Tourney. In pool play, Mid Prairie would win in straight sets against Benton (21-17, 21-11), and Washington (21-6, 21-11) to advance to the semi finals of the championship bracket against Iowa City Regina. After dropping the first set 18-21, the Golden Hawks would fight their way back to win the next two games 21-15, 15-13 to advance to the tournament championship. In the final, the Golden Hawks would fall in straight sets to West Liberty 13-21, 7-21.  Head coach Cindy Miller says she was extremely pleased with her team’s performance in the Hawk’s Tourney.

“We have not been in this final in years, years before I even got here.”  Miller said, “Just to make it to the final and beating (Iowa City) Regina on the way, that is a victory for us.”

Mid Prairie’s four wins last week doubled the teams win total on the season. The Golden Hawks are now 8-10 overall on the season, and will be back in action Thursday evening at North Cedar High School.
