The community can help support a local non-profit this weekend. English River Outfitters organizes and holds outdoor activities for veterans at their location south of Washington. Their next hunt is scheduled for the first weekend in October.
Tomorrow, they’re holding an open house from noon to 5pm. Plans include a 50/50 drawing, raffles and live music from the Blue Scratch Blues Band. Also a wild game feed and fish fry is being held that will feature deer, squirrel, raccoon and Texas wild hog.
According to president and founder of the organization, Chuck Geertz, these events allow them to provide their Life Skills program to our veterans free of charge. English River outfitters is located at 2564 305th Street, on the southeast corner of Sockum Ridge Park off of Highway W55.
