Here is a look at results from yesterday’s sporting events around the KCII listening area.Only one other KCII area volleyball team was in action Tuesday night.

In Fort Madison it was the Bloodhounds defeating the Washington Demons in straight sets (25-13, 25-10, 25-15). The loss drops Washington to 3-13 on the year. They will be on the court next on Saturday as the Demons will compete in the annual Hawks Tourney in Wellman.

Several Area Cross Country teams performed throughout Southeast Iowa Tuesday.

The Mid Prairie Golden Hawk’s Cross Country team held their annual invitational yesterday at the Wellman Golf Course. The Golden Hawk’s would win both the boys and girls team compeition. On the boys side Mid Prairie won with 21 points, Highland a distant second with 53, the Iowa Mennonite School finished 3rd with 73, Wilton finished 4th with 86, and Keota rounds out the top 5 with 124 points. The meets individual winner was Highland senior Evan Mahler, who won with a time of 16:53, the lone runner to eclipe the 17 minute mark.

On the girls side, Mid Praire would win the team competition with 20 points. The only other team with notable points was Wilton, who finished with 41. Mid Prairie freshman Anna Hostetler won the individual title with a run of 15:57, the lone runner to eclipe the 16 minute mark.

Other area schools participated in the 34th Annual Mount Pleasant Invitational at Old Threshers. In Class A competition on the boy’s side, Louisa-Muscatine came away as the team invitational winner with a score of 43.  Mediapolis would finish the meet second with 73 points, Wapello came in third with 72 points, Winfield-Mount Union finished fourth with 72 points, and rounding out the top 5 was Notre Dame-Burlington with 110 points. The best individual performance from the KCII listening area came from Winfield-Mount Union sophomore Gavin Bencze who finished the meet second overall with a time of 17:28. His teammate  junior Johnathon Quinn finished right behind him with a time of 17:42. Other notable finishers include Columbus Community junior Josh Keller, who finished fifth overall with a time of 18:10 and his teammate senior Angel Rodrieguez rounded out the top ten with a time of 18:41. In girls competition.  On the girls side, Mediapolis won the team competition with 22 points. Wapello finished a distant second with 71 points, followed by Louisa Muscatine with 85, Columbus Community with 86, and Van Burean rounds out the top five with 92 points.

In Class AA competiton on the boys side, it was Mount Pleasant taking first in their invitational with 20 points. Fort Madison finished in second with 45 points followed by Fairfield with 92, Washington with 100, and Keokuk rounds out the top 5 with 129 points. The best area finisher went to Washington’ sophomore Owen Horak, who finished 12th with a time of 18:56. Senior Curtis Vest was right behind him with a time of 19:00. On the girls side, Fort Madison won the team title with 20 points. Fairfield came in second with 41 points, followed by Mount Pleasant with 61, Washington with 106, and Keokuk rounded out the top 5 with 151 points. The best area finisher was sophomore Mariah Howard, who finished 18th with a time of 17:38.
