A group of vintage vehicle owners are celebrating a British tradition in southeast Iowa this weekend.The Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour, which began in 2012, has participants drive from New London to Brighton.

Jeff Krug is one of the organizers. He says the tradition of driving from London, England to Brighton, England started in 1896 when the country abolished a law that required an automobile traveling faster than 4 mph be preceded by someone on foot holding a red flag.

The owners of the vehicles made before 1927 will arrive in the area today and begin a tour of this part of the state tomorrow. The ride from New London to Brighton begins at 8 Saturday morning. Visit http://redflagmotortour.com/ for more information or to learn how to register.
